On Friday morning, 29th November, an international expert in landslides, Dr Mike Winters, visited the A83 at Rest and be Thankful to scrutinise the hillsides.
He was accompanied by Mike Story, who leads the initiative on transport connectivity for Argyll, born from the A83 of which he was a key member.
We were unable to get to the Rest on Friday to meet Dr Winters and to listen to his insights into this powerful but overly mobile part of our landscape.
However, we hope shortly to have information on what he saw and what he thinks.

The old military road, resurfaced by Transport Scotland as an emergency diversion route for convoyed traffic when the A83 closes due to landslides, can be seen below them; with the A83 itself in the distance on the hill.
